PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for supporting a new platform and a changed platform without the need of changing a system software kernel. ;SOLUTION: In this case, an approach called as a platform service agent(PSA) is used. The PSA functions together with the bus manager A of a system software for the platform variant and changes a system resource as needed. The PSA separates the details of the platform and thus, the need of changing the bus manager A is eliminated. Since the PSA itself is present outside the kernel and is capable of being downloaded and easily prepared for the platform variant, the new platform is supported without correction or re-release of the system software kernel.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
