PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and accurately determining trace amounts of halogens contained in gold (III) compounds such as auric acid. aurate or their aqueous solutions without the need for special facilities or contamination from surroundings. ;SOLUTION: A reducing agent is added to an aqueous solution of a gold (III) compound or an aqueous solution obtained by dissolving a gold (III) compound in water, and gold in the gold (III) compound is reduced and deposited. After separating the gold, halogens in the aqueous solution remaining as a filtrate are measured by ion chromatography.
