PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical fiber transmission line which has superior transmission characteristics in a 1.55 μm wavelength band and the pure quartz-glass core optical fiber which is used suitably for this optical fiber transmission line. ;SOLUTION: This optical fiber transmission line is an optical fiber transmission line between a transmitter 11 and a receiver 12 and constituted by cascading a pure quartz-glass core optical fiber 30 and a dispersion compensating means 40. The dispersion compensating means 40 compensates the wavelength dispersion of the pure quartz-glass core optical fiber 30. The pure quartz-glass core optical fiber 30 has its core area made of pure quartz-glass and its clad region made of quartz glass to which F elements are added, and the polarization mode dispersion of about 1.55 μm in wavelength is about ≤0.15 ps/km1/2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
