PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve stability in deflection of rotating body, less power consump tion and high efficiency by improving the shape of kinetic pressure generating groove of a thrust bearing in a spindle motor to be used in information processing equipment. ;SOLUTION: In this kinetic pressure bearing, a thrust plate 1 is plated to form a plated layer 7, a kinetic pressure generating groove is formed by removing the plating with the irradiation of laser beam on the portion of the thrust plate surface which is to turn into the kinetic pressure generating groove, and the groove side surface which links the thrust plate surface to the bottom surface of the kinetic pressure generating groove is made perpendicular in fabricating the groove on the surface of the thrust plate 1 of a thrust bearing which supports a load in the thrusting direction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
