PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the labor for teaching an operating method to respective users by showing a display screen projecting the ways, etc., of the user's operation input to the people in a KARAOKE sing-along hall. ;SOLUTION: The user makes the operation input, such as retrieval of musical pieces and assignment of reserved music, by moving the fingertips toward a video camera 33 while viewing a display 32 on which items are displayed together with his or her own fingertips. A central control section 34 reads out each set of content data by responding with the operation input and displays the others display item and accepts the musical piece operation. The image photographed by the video camera 33 is subjected to A/D conversion in an image processing section 36 and is handed over to the central control section 34. The central control section 34 analyzes the photographed image and makes decision as to whether the forefinger in an extended state exists or not. A characteristic pattern is extracted from the photographed image by a prescribed recognition algorithm and decision is made as to whether this pattern matches the sample pattern or not. If the photographed object decided to match exists, the image of this object is synthesized and displayed on the display under display of the display item.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
