SOLUTION: The foghorn-sounding apparatus for notifying generation of a fog in a monitor area by sounding a foghorn has a radar apparatus 1 for observing a distribution of the fog generated in the monitor area, a foghorn- sounding judgment means 2 for judging whether or not it is necessary to sound the foghorn in accordance with observed data, and a foghorn 3 which is sounded on the basis of the judgment result of the foghorn-sounding judgment means. The radar apparatus 1 is used to detect the distribution of the fog, so that the fog on the sea can be measured in a wide range at one time. In comparison with the conventional detection for the fog at points, the fog distribution can be more surely detected and therefore, the foghorn 3 can be automatically sounded.
