PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continue operation without stopping a supercritical water reaction device even if the quantity of liq. to be treated is fluctuated. SOLUTION: In the method for decomposing the liq. to be treated at a supercritical region of water in the supercritical water reaction device, the level of the tank of the liq. to be treated storing the liq. to be treated is measured, and the feed rate of the liq. to be treated to the supercritical water reaction device is increased and decreased in accordance with the increase and decrease of the level. In this way, the device can be operated continuously without stopping the supercritical water reaction device even in the case when replenishing amount of the liq. to be treated is fluctuated and decreased, therefore, the stop.restart operation of the supercritical water reaction device is reduced, the thermal stress placed on the supercritical water reaction device is reduced and the rupture of the material of the supercritical water reaction device is hardly caused.
