HIGHLY WATER-ABSORBING RESIN, HIGHLY WATER-ABSORBING ARTICLE, BAG OR PACKAGING MATERIAL FOR DISPOSAL THEREOF, PACKAGE OF HIGHLY WATER-ABSORBING RESIN OR ARTICLE, AND INCINERATION METHOD OF HIGHLY WATER-ABSORBING RESIN OR ARTICLE
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To incinerate a highly water-absorbing resin, a highly water-absorbing article, a bag or packaging material for a water-absorbing article, or the like without causing the highly water-absorbing resin to be fused and solidified and to be deposited on the incinerator by adding a polyvalent metal compound to the resin, article, bag, or packaging material to be incinerated. SOLUTION: A desirable example of the polyvalent metal compound is a salt of aluminum magnesium, or calcium. When the polyvalent metal compound is used, adoption can be made for a process comprising adding the compound in the form of a solid or a solution just before or during incineration. However, it is rather desirable to previously add 1-10 wt.%, based on the resin, compound to the resin or the article because the incineration work can avoid an extra step. When a highly water-absorbing resin together with a polyvalent metal compound is incinerated, the resin is inhibited from being fused and solidified and from being deposited on the incinerator. Therefore, a water-absorbing article containing a highly water-absorbing resin can be satisfactorily incinerated without enhancing the performance of the incinerator and without increasing maintenance at the site of incineration.
