DNA MARKER PLACED CLOSELY TO RICE CYTOPLASMIC MALE STERILITY-RESTORING GENE AND DISCRIMINATION OF CYTOPLASMIC MALE STERILITY-RESTORING GENE BY USE OF THE SAME
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a DNA marker capable of discriminating the gene type of rice cytoplasmic male sterility-restoring gene (Rf-1) at a DNA level, improving the efficiency of rice growth, and controlling the purity of seeds by using a primer having a specific base sequence and placed closely to the rice Rf-1. ;SOLUTION: This DNA marker has a base sequence of formula I and boards at a place of 1 centimorgan (cM) closely to the rice Rf-1. The method for discriminating the gene type of the Rf-1 comprises preparing a pair of primers for detecting the DNA marker from a primer having the base sequence of formula II and a primer which is faced to the primer and has a continuous 15-40 base length base sequence selected from the 492 to 2371 bases in the base sequence of formula I, and subsequently subjecting a pair of the primers to a PCR using rice DNA as a template. When the DNA fragment originated from the DNA marker is amplified, it is judged that the DNA marker does not have the Rf-1. When the DNA is not amplified, it is judged that the DNA marker has the Rf-1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
