PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new plant cell growth factor precursor polypeptide originating from Oryza sativa L. which contains a specific amino acid sequence and expresses plant cell growth facilitative activity by processing in plant cells and sulfating the tyrosine residue of phytosulfokine. SOLUTION: This plant cell growth factor precursor polypeptide is a new polypeptide which is a precursor peptide of Oryza sativa L.-derived phytosulfokine, contains a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence represented by amino acid numbers 1-89 in the formula or phytosulfokine in the sequence, permits expressing plant cell growth facilitative activity by secreting tyrosine-sulfated phytosulfokine formed by undergoing the processing in plant cells and the sulfation of the tyrosine residue of phytosulfokine and is obtained by deleting, substituting or adding one or a plurality of amino acids to the formula. By introducing the gene encoding the precursor polypeptide into the plant cells, the transformed plant that shows accelerated plant growth can be obtained. This polypeptide originates from Oryza sative L. Oc cell.
