PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pad type ceramic bearing device to prevent the generation of shaft vibration and provide stable bearing performance for a long period. ;SOLUTION: This ceramic bearing device comprises a pad type bearing 5 arranged on the outer periphery of a rotary shaft 1 and having a ceramic layer formed on a slide contact surface; and a load support member to support the pad type bearing. River water is used as a lubricant for a bearing. In a so formed pad type ceramic bearing device, a foreign matter entrance preventing means to prevent entrance of a foreign matter to a clearance between the pad type bearing and the bearing load support member is arranged at the pad type bearing 5 or at the periphery thereof.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
