PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a one-tap system at low cost and provide an autonomous distribution line voltage adjustor, which makes the optimization of voltage control possible and a method for controlling the voltage of a high voltage distribution line using the adjustor. ;SOLUTION: A voltage adjusting system, applied to a high voltage distribution line 2, is composed of a plurality of autonomous distribution line voltage adjustors 4, each of which is composed of a capacitor or a reactor 6, which being connected to the high voltage distribution line 2 via a switch 5, raises or lowers the voltage of the high voltage distribution line 2, a voltage detector 3 for measuring the voltage of the high voltage distribution line 2, and a controller for closing/opening the switch 5 when the detected voltage is out of the set value. From the power supply side toward the terminal of the high voltage distribution line 2, the autonomous distribution line voltage adjustors are distributively located at specified intervals to adjust the voltage of the high voltage distribution line 2 within a specified range over the entire line 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
