PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method and system which can quickly and accurately locate the occurrence of an emergency. ;SOLUTION: Position data of the final point where an emergency has occurred is sent from a vehicle 1 to an emergency report center 21, and the position where the emergency has occurred is obtained from this position data. If the occurrence of the emergency cannot be located from position data of the final point, the emergency report center 21 requests running track data before the occurrence of the emergency to the vehicle 1 and uses running track data to specify the position where the emergency has occurred. Preferably, the running track is requested when plural roads are running in parallel. Otherwise, the running track length required to specify the position is designated based on the length of a parallel running section.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
