PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and surely reduce the concentration of CO without wasteful consumption of hydrogen and power even in the case of extremely changing the concentration of CO by the selective electrolytic oxidation of CO. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a 1st and a 2nd CO reducing cell 1, 2, a 1st and a 2nd voltage impressing power source 4, 5 for individually impressing pulse voltage to these CO reducing cells, means 7, 8, 10 and 11 for supplying gaseous hydrogen containing carbon monoxide to the anode of the 1st CO reducing cell and successively passing through the anode of the 2nd CO reducing cell, the cathode of the 2nd CO reducing cell and the cathode of the 1st CO reducing cell in this order and CO concentration monitoring means 3, 6 and 9 for monitoring the CO concentration in the anode outlet of the 2nd CO reducing cell and the pulse voltage is continuously impressed to the 1st CO reducing cell using the 1st voltage impressing power source and is intermittently impressed to the 2nd CO reducing cell using the 2nd voltage impressing power source based on the signal from the CO concentration monitoring means.
