PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily remove fine air bubbles and strongly adhering air bubbles by sucking the ink in an ink reservoir chamber while introducing the outside air via a vent hole to the ink reservoir chamber in an open state of a communication hole connecting the ink reservoir chamber with the outside. ;SOLUTION: In order to remove air bubbles 19 generated in an ink reservoir chamber 3, particularly, in the vicinity of a peripheral part of a nozzle array, a suction pump 17 is driven while an ink feed path 4 is closed by a feed open close valve 24 V and a vent hole 21 is opened by a ventilation open close valve 21 V. In consequence, the ink is sucked in a direction to return oppositely a route from a suction path 23 through the ink feed path 4 to the ink reservoir chamber 3. The outside air is introduced to the ink reservoir chamber 3 via the vent hole 21. Since the ink ebbs with the outside. air entering inside the ink reservoir chamber 3, air bubbles 19 remaining adhering to the interior of the ink reservoir chamber 3 are broken and extinguished.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
