PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink composition consisting of a stable and water soluble pigment capable of realizing a high soil resistance, waterproof property, printing quality, blur control and optical concentration by containing a polymer added to a macromolecular chromophore by a nucleophilic substitution or an acylation reaction. ;SOLUTION: This ink composition for an ink jet printing, contains a macromolecular chromophore containing at least one water solubilizing functional group and a polymer bonded with at least one covalent bond, in which the above polymer is added to the above macromolecular chromophore by a nucleophilic substitution or an acylation reaction. Further, e.g. the above polymer is preferably bonded with the covalent bond to the above macromolecular chromophore through an ester group having a structure of formula I or II (F is Cl, Br or the like; R is a group of formula III or the like).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
