PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polypeptide capable of forming a complex compound with transferrin or its derivative and manifesting a leukocyte phagocystosis sthenia by effecting a thrombin to an apolipo-protein C3. ;SOLUTION: This activating factor for a platelet-derived leukocyte phagocystosis sthenic factor is a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence of formula I (hereinafter called as PMA-II) or its pharmaceutically permissible salt. The PMA-II is obtained by effecting a thrombin that is a kind of protease, to an apolipo-protein. The PMA-II forms a complex compound with transferrin or its derivative, shows the phagocytic capacity-enhancing action of leukocyte and is utilized as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent of an infectious diseases, an immune-activating agent, an anti-thrombosis agent, etc. Also, polypeptides having amino acid sequences of formulae II to IV having one or several amino acids substituted, added or deficient in the PMA-II have antagonistic activities to the PMA-II and inhibit the leukocyte phagocystosis sthenia.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
