PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermally stable alveolar material, a process for synthesizing the alveolar material, and a method for using the alveolar material, especially in a field of petroleum development and also in every field in which it is desired to acquire the alveolar material effecting sufficient flame resistance and sufficient sound and heat insulation. ;SOLUTION: An alveolar material comprises at least one thermally stable thermoplastic polymer, at least one epoxy resin modified with at least one aromatic polyamine and at least one foaming agent or a single (or a plurality of) decomposed substance from the foaming agent.
