PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the decrease of kinetic mechanical characteristics by forming fiber parts composed of an inorganic fiber, matrix parts composed of a ceramic and positioned at the surroundings of the fiber parts, and interface layers formed between the fiber parts and the matrix parts. ;SOLUTION: The interface layers are composed of a noble metal-based metal having a high melting point, and preferably has ≥3 nm thickness. The inorganic fiber preferably has the following structure: (a) the structure composed of an amorphous material substantially consisting of Si, Ti and/or Zr, and C and O, (b) the structure composed of (a) and an aggregate of crystalline substances composed of β-SiC having ≤1,000 nm size, TiC and/or ZrC, or (c) a mixed system of (b) and amorphous materials present at the neighbor thereof and comprising SiOx, TiOx and/or ZrOx [0(x)2]. The average element composition of (a), (b) and (c) is 30-80 wt.% Si, 15-69 wt.% C and 0.01-20 wt.% O. An oxide, a carbide or the like is cited as the ceramic.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
