PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively improve a heat exchanging efficiency of a heat transfer surface in a durable manner by providing a coating layer of an optical semiconductor on the transfer surface of a heat exchanger, increasing an affinity of the transfer surface to a heat transfer substance by illuminating an excited electromagnetic wave, and suppressing an adherence of foam by boiling to its surface. ;SOLUTION: A photocatalyst such as a titanium oxide or the like simultaneously exhibits amphiphilic, i.e., lipophilic and hydrophilic by introducing ultraviolet rays of an energy larger than an excited wavelength. The degrees of the lipophilic and hydrophilic properties are remarkably high under suitable light illuminating conditions, and its contact angle arrives at about 0 degree. The lipophilic or hydrophilic property of the ampliphilic surface is used for a heat transfer surface, thereby suppressing an adherence of a vapor phase (bubble) generated by boiling of a water or an oil to its surface. Accordingly, a heat transfer efficiency of the water or the oil to the transfer surface is enhanced, thereby improving a heat exchanging efficiency of the heat exchanger.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
