PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize quick focus control on a monitor screen by solving the time lag of focusing operation interlocked with zooming operation when zooming operation is executed between a telephoto side and a wide side. ;SOLUTION: This controller is provided with a zooming and focusing controlling means 5 changing the ratio of the moving speed of a front group lens 11 executing focusing operation in an optical axis direction to the moving speed of a rear group lens 12 executing zooming operation in the optical axis direction in accordance with the moving positional change of the rear group lens 12 in the optical axis direction. The ratio of the number of pulses supplied to a ZM motor 14 by which the rear group lens 12 executes the zooming operation to the number of pulses supplied to an AF motor 13 by which the front group lens 11 executes the focusing operation is changed by following the zooming operation, and the ratio of the moving speed of the rear group lens 12 at zooming operation time to the moving speed of the front group lens 11 at focusing operation time is controlled, so that the rate of change in the number of zooming levels by the rear group lens 12 and the rate of change in the number of focusing levels by the front group lens 11 are made to nearly coincide.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
