PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject derivative flocculating in an aqueous solution by a temperature fall operation, having an upper solution critical temperature even in a physiologic saline, useful for a drug delivery system, a chemovalve, etc., a separating agent, etc. by making the derivative include a specific monomer component and a monomer component such as an acrylamide, etc. SOLUTION: This derivative comprises (A) at least one monomer component of the formula (R1 is H or methyl; R2 is H, a 1-10C alkyl, etc.) (e.g. N- acetylacrylamide, etc.), (B) at least one kind of a monomer component selected from an acrylamide and a methacrylamide and preferably (C) a hydrophilic or hydrophobic monomer as a copolymerization component. The feed ratio of the component A is preferably 0.1-100 wt.% based on the acrylamide and/or methacrylamide. In the case of aiming at a separating agent, the derivative has preferably 0-38 deg.C upper critical temperature.
