PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an inquiry to a system even when the information is not assocated at the information provider side by extracting a word from the designated information, retrieving the information corresponding to the extracted word out of the stored interests and displaying the retrieval result for application of the knowledge of other users. ;SOLUTION: The occurrence frequency of each extracted word is calculated (S4), and a word of high occurrence frequency is compared with a node included in the thesaurus that is previously held (S5). If the perfect coincidence is confirmed between those word and node, the relevant node is extracted (S6). Then the node of the highest frequency is decided as a field where the information belongs (S7). The decided field is regarded as an interest of every user and these interests are stored for every user (S8). The noted information is designated in an information reference mode by a user (S9), and a word is extracted from the designated information (S10). The information corresponding to the extracted word is retrieved out of the stored interests (S11), and this retrieval result is displayed (S12).
