IMPROVED INLINE SOLID-PHASE POLYMERIZATION OF POLY(ETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE) FLAKE FOR PRODUCING PLASTIC STRAP BY REMOVING AMORPHOUS MATERIAL FROM RECOVERED POLY(ETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE)
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) material of high intrinsic viscosity. SOLUTION: This process for forming a PET material suitable for the following fabrication comprises the step where a variety of poly(ethylene terephthalate) materials are collected that have a relatively wide range of intrinsic viscosity distribution; the step where the collected PET materials are mixed to reform them to heterogenous PET mixture including substantially crystalline flake segments and amorphous chunk segments; and the step where, when the heterogenous mixture of the PET materials containing substantially crystalline flake segments is further processed so that the intrinsic viscosity of the PET materials may be increased, the amorphous chunk segments are substantially removed from the heterogenous mixture of the PET materials so that the occurrence of a substantial amount of crystallization heat may be effectively inhibited to remain the substantially crystalline flake segments alone.
