PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reagent, for total residual-chlorine measurement, which is used simply and whose shelf life is enhanced by using an aqueous solution containing an alkali which is more than a specific prescribed value and which is less than the specific prescribed value. ;SOLUTION: When total residual chlorine in water to be inspected is measured by a diethyl- P-phenylenediamine method, about 30 ml of the water, to be inspected, is first collected in a beaker. Then, a DPD reagent K is put into a dissolving bottle, and 10 ml of the water to be inspected is injected into the dissolving bottle. Then, the dissolving bottle is shaken, and the DPD reagent K is dissolved in the water to be inspected. Then, 2 ml or higher of the water to be inspected is injected into a cell (f) in a total residual chlorine measuring apparatus 500. In ten minutes after the finish of the above operation, a measuring switch (e) in the total residual chlorine measuring apparatus 500 is pressed, and a numerical value on a display window (c) is read out. The numerical value indicates the concentration of free residual chlorine, and its unit is expressed by (mg/l). Only one drop of the pottasium iodide reagent 100 for total-residual-chlorine measurement is dropped into the cell (f) from a reagent bottle G1. In two minutes after the finish of this operation, the measuring switch (e) in the total residual chlorine measuring apparatus 500 is pressed, and a numerical value on the display window (c) is read out.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
