PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melting furnace in which radioactive miscellaneous solid wastes are melted, in which a radioactive nuclide is shifted to a specific phase such as a metal phase, a slug phase or the like, and in which its solidified object is taken out to the outside of the melting furnace, and to provide a treatment method. ;SOLUTION: A furnace wall whose inside is water-cooled and which is composed of a conductive material and a furnace bottom which can be moved constitute this melting furnace. A waste charging port 8 and an exhaust gas exit 7 are provided in the upper part of the melting furnace. A reactant supply port 4 is provided at the bottom part of the melting furnace. A high-frequency coil 10 is provided on the outer circumference of the furnace wall of the melting furnace. In addition, slits in a direction which crosses the winding direction of the high-frequency coil are provided in the furnace wall and the furnace bottom of the melting furnace.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
