PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method and a device for manufacturing a spacer for an optical fiber cable by which a notch is speedily and easily formed on the outer layer of the spacer spirally at a prescribed pitch, and to realize the method for manufacturing an optical fiber cable by using the spacer. ;SOLUTION: A head 11 provided with a blade 10a, 10b inside is rotated, and a spacer 5 having at least one optical fiber storing groove 3 is fed into the head 11 at a specified speed by means of a feeding mechanism 13, thereby forming a spacer 50 having a notch 14 in the circumferential direction at a prescribed pitch p in the longitudinal direction on the outer layer 4 of the spacer can speedily and easily be formed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
