PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earth retaining method capable of reinforcing the wall face of a ditch from the ground surface simply and safely without requiring a worker to enter the excavated ditch and to provide an earth retaining wall material used for it. ;SOLUTION: Multiple horizontal reinforcing members 1 arranged at the prescribed intervals are connected by a soft sheet 2 to form a series of sheet-like earth retaining wall materials A. The earth retaining wall materials A and an assembled frame body B in which a pair of right and left vertical columns 3 arranged in parallel are connected by pressure cylinders 4 expandably to the right and left and the junctions between the pressure cylinders 4 and the columns 3 are made rotatable via pivotal shafts 5 are prepared. The earth retaining wall materials A are suspended from above along the right and left wall faces D of an excavated ditch C to cover the wall faces D, then the assembled frame body B is lowered between the right and left earth retaining wall materials A, and the columns 3 are pressed toward the wall faces D by the pressure cylinders 4 for earth retaining.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
