PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To embed prescribed data in digital image data indicating one part of an image with a digital watermark. SOLUTION: A digital camera is provided with a watermark information embedding circuit 51 and a watermark information reading circuit 52. Setting for embedding prescribed data in digital image data indicating one part of image in one frame obtained though image pickup by a digital watermark is inputted to the digital camera, and a subject is photographed. The prescribed data are embedded only in the image data which indicate the part of a designated area among the image data obtained, by photographing with a digital watermark with a watermark information embedding circuit 51. Prescribed data are not embedded in the image data which indicate other images. The prescribed data are read from the image data, in which the prescribed data are embedded by the digital watermark with a watermark information reading circuit 52.
