PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw material soil used for producing pottery and capable of changing the pH value and the oxidation-reduction potential of the pottery into values good for human bodies, respectively, to improve the quality of water, to provide a pottery using the same as a raw material, and to provide a method for using the pottery. ;SOLUTION: This raw material soil for producing pottery comprises clay for chinaware and the powder of soft porous ancient marine humic sand stone comprising many elements containing silica, calcium, sodium, potassium, iron oxide, copper, phosphate, manganese, nickel, cobalt, titanium, sulfur, zinc, aluminum and magnesium as main components. Pottery, such as a tea cup, capable of keeping a liquid therein is produced from the raw material soil. Therein, only the outside portion and the mouth portion of the pottery are coated with an enamel, and the inside portion brought into contact with a liquid is kept in a porous state. When water is put in the pottery, the water is changed into water having a weakly alkaline property and a low oxidation-reduction potential and suitable for drinking by the action of the soft porous ancient marine humic sand stone.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
