Novel antitumor and antiviral compositions from marine sources

The invention provides a composition according to the general formula: CHEM wherein R1-6 are the same or different and are a hydrogen, lower alkyl, or lower acyl: and R7-14 are the same or different and are single bonded hydrogen or hydroxy groups. Such compositions are derived from marine organisms (marine sponges) and exhibit antiviral and antitumor activity.
