The variable stiffness structure in braced frames

PURPOSE:To provide a structure with a non-linear characteristic and to reduce response of the structure by varying horizontal rigidity of a bracing skeleton passively against an earthquake or strong wind. CONSTITUTION:Spaces are provided between the opposite structural elements without combining or rigidly connecting the opposite braces 1 with beams 2 or the braces 1 with columns 4, connections of the beams 2 or the braces 1 with each other. The spaces are filled with fillers 3 having high damping efficiency with elasticity, viscoelasticity or an elastic and plastic characteristic.
