PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic individual shopping system for communication between the individual storage device of a customer and point-of-sales information management(POS) terminal equipment inside a retail establishment. ;SOLUTION: Demographic profile data, the transaction history data of the customer and the present bonus indicator of the customer are stored in a specified place inside the storage device of a portable machine readable smart card 10. The smart card 10 is adapted so as to interact with the terminal equipment 12 of a shop, a customer supporting device 30 or KIOSK terminal equipment. The adjustment terminal equipment 12 records the latest transaction of the customer inside a customer transaction history storage area and updates the present bonus indicator of the customer. The customer supporting device 30 or the KIOSK terminal equipment generate a message for sales promotion and individual greetings by reading and analyzing demographic profile information, transaction history information and bonus indicator information stored inside the smart card 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
