PURPOSE:To obtain a metal-coated carbon fiber chopped strand having properties capable of stably feeding to a molding machine without scattering fibers in dry blending and readily dispersing the fibers in a molding machine, a method for producing the chopped strand and a fiber-reinforced resin composition. CONSTITUTION:A metal-coated carbon fiber strand is introduced into a solution of a sizing agent obtained by dissolving styrene-methyl methacrylate copolymer resin having a composition ratio consisting of 20-80wt.% styrene and 80-20wt.% methyl methacrylate in a solvent in a state of non-twist. Then, 3-20 times/m twist is applied to the strand in the solution of the sizing agent or while pulling the strand from the solution and dried and the sizing agent attached to the strand is subjected to homogenization treatment to bond 2-40wt.% sizing agent to the strand.
