PURPOSE:To facilitate mounting by separating a jack from a timbering in a state to hold two end parts so that the member of an end part on the slide side is horizontally stretched under gravity and setting the length of a beam to a value within the allowable range of the mounting distance between support structures. CONSTITUTION:A stretch chord beam 3 comprises an arch-shaped large beams material 3a, a stretch chord material 3b, e.g. a strand rope, and a rodform strut material 3C. A beam 3 is assembled on a ground between support structures 1, and a jack 4a at the upper part of a timbering 4 is lowered to separate the jack away from the beam material 3a. The two end parts of the beam material 3a are transferred to support by support devices 7 and 9 through temporarily located auxiliary end members 6 and 8, and the member 8 of an end part on the slide side is stretched over a slide material 9a of a device 9 under gravity of the beam material 3a. After it is confirmed that the length of the beam 3 is within the allowable range of a given mounting distance between structures 1, the beam 3 is mounted on a support truss 2.
