PURPOSE: To provide a signal recognizing method and a device whereby a right answer rate being higher than that of a conventional example when compared in a signal recognizing process requiring the execution of both processes, a classification-process and a reject-process. ;CONSTITUTION: A recognition parameter storage part 50 stores a classification- process parameter for classifying an inputted signal into priviously prepared classes and a reject-process parameter for judging recognition impossible. A recognition-process part 2 classifies an input pattern obtained from the inputted signal into one of the previously prepared plural classes through the use of the classification-process parameter and the reject-process parameter or judges recognition impossible so as to output a recognition result. A recognition parameter updating part 3 leans the both parameters so as to execute updating based on the inputted signal and the right answer recognition result of the signal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
