PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus suited for measuring the pipe wall thickness, using a noncontact type distance meter, and a pipe wall thickness measuring method. ;SOLUTION: A first wall thickness measuring part 1 having a pair of ultrasonic transceiver probes 1a, 1b facing the inner and outer surfaces of a pipe wall, second wall thickness measuring part 2 having a pair of ultrasonic transceiver probes 2a, 2b, measuring arms 3a, 3b holding the first and second wall thickness measuring parts 2, support rod 4 rotatably supporting the measuring arms 3a, 3b, center aligner unit 6 for adjusting the support rod 4 in the transverse and vertical directions through a rotary shaft 7, and wall thickness calculating unit 8 are comprised such that the center line C' of the center aligner unit 6 is located on the center axis C of a steel pipe P and then the wall thickness is measured.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
