DNA purified and isolated, construction of expression, host cell, microorganism in ruminant, transgenic plant, phytase, composition of feed, feed additive, method for producing a phytase.Method for producing a transgenic plant.Method for improving the use of phthalate in the diet for an animal, and method for identifying a DNA molecule are provided fitases derived from microorganisms of ruminants.The fitases are capable of catalyzing the release of inorganic phosphorus in phytic acid. The preferred sources of fitases include Selenomonas, Prevotella, Treponema and Megasphaera.It is equipped with a purified and isolated DNA encoding a phytase of Selenomonas ruminantium jy35 (ATCC 55785).Also provided are expression vectors containing DNA encoding the recombinant host cells transformed with fitases and DNAs encoding the fitases.The fitases are useful in a wide range of applications involving the desfosforilau00e7u00e3o phytate, including, among other things, the use of supplements in animal feeds.
