An apparatus for Inspecting a container (14) with regard to Variations that affect Commercial acceptability of the vessel,That includes a means (39): a container to rotate around its Axis, a Light Source (16), which includes a Diffuser (20) and (22), a PolarizerTo direct diffuse Polarized Light Energy through a container in the middle of rotationA First Chamber (24) arranged with respect to the average rotation to receive diffuse Polarized Light Energy transmitted from the Light Source through a portion of the container,In such a way that the first Camera receives an image of the container portion where Variations appear opaque Dark against a Brilliant background otherwiseA second Chamber (28) disposed with respect to the average rotation for receiving Light Energy transmitted from the Light Source through a substantial portion of the container,And that includes a Second Polarizer (32) in a Transverse orientation with respect to the first Polarizer such that said Second Camera receives a Bright Image Variations isForce in the portion of the container that Alters the polarization of the diffuse Polarized Light Energy that passes through a Dark History in another way,And an Image Processor (41) coupled to both the first and the second Camera to receive the associated Images of the container portion.That includes a means to detect and discriminate among variations in the containerWherein the first and second Chambers are Images of the same portion of the container when it is Illuminated by the Light Source.And because the Image Processor (41) detects and discriminates among variations in the container as a function of a comparison between the first and second Images.
