In the present invention, there are disclosed benzo cyclohepta pyridine oxide derivatives of the general formula 9.0, 38.0, 40.0, 42.0, 47.0 and 53.0. These compounds are useful for inhibiting the abnormal growth of cells, for inhibiting farnesyl protein transferase and for preparing a medicament intended for treating cancers. There is also disclosed a pharmaceutical composition in which these derivatives are comprised.
