Quality monitoring system for perishable products being transported by air, involves use of sensing probe which is inserted into packages to detect temperature, humidity, gas concentration, etc.
The probe (1) which has a control handle grip is a slender pointed (6) needle which can be inserted through the cardboard or plastic package containing the perishable products. The probe contains temperature sensors (2, 3), a humidity sensor (4) and possibly other sensors for gas concentration, etc. Data from the probe is recorded by a computer system for analysis of the effects of transport conditions on product shelf life.
