When a user requires a trolley (6), he inserts an identity card into a card reader (4) on the front panel of the bay. If the card is recognized, a blocking mechanism (3) is rotated to release the trolley handle (5). The card reader, help display and locking mechanism are powered by a battery (8). The battery is recharged by a generator which runs when the wheels of the trolley run along a rail system (9).
