As each section (4d) of the bridge deck is moved out past the end of the previous section (4a) it is supported by a crane (8), via cables (12). Carried on the section (4d) is a foundation crane (6). The foundation crane (6) moved to the outer end of the section and is used to drive foundation piles (2) to support the junction between one section and the next. After the foundation is complete, the outer section is dropped into place and the process repeated.
