Aerobic filtration process for purifying effluent water, uses flow of retentate from filter unit to introduce oxygen

Retentate returned from the filter unit to the aerobic chamber is used to introduce the oxygen-containing gas to this chamber. A process for purifying effluent water comprises introducing the effluent and an oxygen-containing gas into a chamber (1), filtering the effluent from the chamber at high pressure, and returning the filter retentate to the chamber. The flow of retentate is used to introduce the oxygen-containing gas into the chamber. An Independent claim is also included for the process apparatus.
