(a) Ammonium nitrate fertilisers containing magnesium nitrate, and (b) calcium nitrate fertilisers, are treated to prevent take-up of moisture, by application of a coating composition comprising: an active material, the reaction product of an alcohol or amine with a carboxylic acid (I) or anhydride of 20-500C atoms and, as formulation agent, an oily or waxy product.
