The present invention relates to a composition comprising a plant and a surfactant, characterised in that the plant comprises a herbaceous botanical of the genus Echinacea in about 2-90% weight and the surfactant benzalkonium halide an about 0.005-0.8% by weight. Also claimed is the use of this composition in the treatment of herpes, cytomegalovirus, human immunodeficiency virus and epstein barr diseases.
