A corrugated metal arch structure 10 is stiffened by a reinforcement plate 24. This plate may extend over all or part of the longitudinal and transverse extent of the arch. The reinforcement plate may be flat, or corrugated as shown, so that a series of cavities is formed between the reinforcement plate and the arch. These cavities are filled with concrete, and the sides of the cavities are lined with shear bond connectors rigidly formed with both the reinforcement plate and arch. The shear bond connectors ensure that the concrete and the metal act in unison when a load is applied to the arch structure.
