Needleless luer connector, resilient diaphragm with central slit seals against luer

A medical connector that can be connected to a male luer lock conforming to ISO standards uses a resealable pre-slit diaphragm valve 28. The diaphragm includes a disk shaped upper portion 34 covering the end of tube 26. This upper portion has a swabbable upper surface. A portion 46 of the diaphragm extends into the tube interior 36 from upper portion 34. A slit 46 extends through portion 46. The valve 28 has a skirt 52 which can be adhered to either the inside or outside of tube 26. In use a luer tip penetrates the slit 46. the resilience of the diaphragm causes the sides of the slit to seal against the luer tip, providing a leakproof seal. When the luer is withdrawn, the sides of the slit close to prevent leakage from the connector.
