Status flag broadcast to indicate status of broadcast of set-up data for interactive television programs

A scheduled interactive application is broadcast to a plurality of users via respective user interfaces by placing set-up data 100 on a broadcast carousel prior to a scheduled start time so that the set-up data is repeatably broadcast to the user interfaces. At the scheduled start time of the application the real time data 101 relating to the application is broadcast to the user interfaces. A status flag 102, 103 indicative of the status of the set-up data broadcast is also broadcast to the user interfaces. This allows the availability of the set-up data to be notified to each user without requiring download of the set-up data.
