Given is a description of the poly(epsilon-caprolactam) (PA6) solvolytic depolymerization process with the use of microwave radiation as the source of thermal energy. The reaction takes place in a high-pressure polytetrafluoroethylene reactor in the presence of a catalyst (phosphoric (V) acid, H3PO4). The described system allowed for short reaction times, between 8 and 30 minutes in which complete PA6 degradation was achieved. Solvolytic reagent used was water.
